About the Book

From The Command Car . . . is the true life story of former WWII United States Army TEC5 Sgt. Mr. Charles A. Libby and his incredible experiences of time spent behind the wheel of the M-20 Armored Command Car. Charles Libby served in the 628th Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theater of Operations and served his country with honor! Driving officers through most every major battle of WWII, this Pennsylvania native reveals his untold stories that will enthrall all readers while properly honoring his fellow members of the 628th. Many untold stories, new uncovered facts and truths that will add an entirely new view of written history and memories that still fill the mind of a man that helped to overthrow evil. A member of the CCC Camps in his youth, Mr. Libby will add an element of what hard work will do to a boy and how it will follow him into manhood. Now at the age of 98, this WWII veteran does his part to fill in many of the "missing puzzle pieces" of this war. Written by Steve Hunter, author of the book Training Heroes, a three year project to capture the sights, memories, feelings, smells and the horror that a man witnessed and recalls as a first-hand testament of what most of us have never seen and can only imagine. Humorous stories, quotes from the man himself and a timeline of his life from childhood, CCC Camps, enlistment, service, shipping out, the battles, his return home and what life provided to him through the next 75 years. Enjoy this heart-filled story and hear the words of a man that lived though a generation of patriotic Americans all coming together to save the world!
