About the Book

As we enter this age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we can now recognize that without intelligence there is no organized activity. The book "From Whence Cometh Intelligence" makes a compelling case for being the corollary to "The Origin of Species" by Sir Charles Darwin as it explains:

"Every intelligent action occurs as a result of logic"

Without intelligence all activity would be random and chaotic, just as our machines need the intelligence of an operator or to function autonomously or semi-autonomously, they must be directed by AI, we must recognize that all activities of all plants and animals must also be directed by intelligence, some learned and also by Intrinsic Intelligence (II), which we refer to as instinct.

"All the changes witnessed in evolution are directed by logic and accompanied by the imbedding of logic in living organisms to support the successful implementation of those changes."

The reason our best and brightest scientists and technologists seek to emulate the "work" of Nature is that we recognize the designs of all systems in Nature are of such sophistication that not only can they not be the product of random happenstance but the very best we can accomplish is to be able to emulate these processes, as not only all our sciences journeys of discovery of what was created by "Nature".

What we can observe in Nature is that along with the physiological changes observed in evolution, we can now recognize that there is embedded II that is distinct to each species so that a spider does not have to learn to spin a web, or birds to build very intricate nests etc., this sophisticated "knowledge" must be embedded in the memory of these species as it is not learned from observation or tutelage.

"Before intelligence, we need sensors"

Although sensors themselves cannot be built without a thorough understanding of the stimuli to which each type of sensor must respond, they are essential to transmit information that can be processed to make "intelligent" decisions.

"There must be an Internal Processing System (IProSys) that like DNA is intrinsic to every living organism and may also be part of every cell, it may be what constitutes "life" itself!"

DNA is like a database or blueprint, it does nothing on its' own, something has to "read" it and make use of the information to direct activities based on this blueprint, this would be the Internal Processing System (IProSys) and this must exist like DNA at the cellular level

From unicellular organisms to a fertilized egg, neither of which has a brain(!)each is capable of, or directed by

some decision-making processes, from the unicellular organism(amoeba/paramecium etc.) being able to identify what to consume or avoid to the division/manufacturing of cells in a fertilized eggs that "knows" or is directed to start cell division and at what point to transition from "simple" cell division to creating the specialized cells and systems that become an entire new organism. Even activities of stem cells or our immune system etc. are directed by some form of IProSys.

The book takes the reader on a journey into the details of these highly advanced and sophisticated systems and invites the reader to draw their own conclusions as to who or what could design these advanced sensors and also embed the distinct and "specialized programming" which we observe as the "instincts" of every specie.
