High Octane Adventure Stories by Top Gear magazine's Data Dad Ivan Berg.Three stories from the golden age of Motor Sport, the 1950s and 1960s.
Full Throttle - Wonder mechanic Charlie tunes a vintage Bentley for his pal Pete and opens the door to motor racing adventure...
Scorpion - The Story of a Racing Car - Against all odds, engineers Peter Russell and his business partner David Wilmer design and build a world-beating Formula One racing car...
To Monte For A Million - A tale of a mischievous old uncle, an extraordinary will, a million pounds, two playboy nephews, two Morris Mini-Coopers - and the thrilling Monte Carlo Rally...
These three stories were originally written and published as weekly serials in 1960 and 1961 in a comic-style magazine for boys called TV EXPRESS. I kept copies in an old cardboard suitcase that lived for 50 years in a dusty cupboard under the stairs. With three grandchildren, all boys, all of the ages of my long-ago readers, I thought it would be fun to see if the stories still had an appeal. They did. So here they are. Ivan Berg - October 2015
