About the Author: Robert C. Hackney is a lawyer, author, and entrepreneur. He lives in Jupiter, Florida. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Hackney started and sold an internet company in the early 1990s, formed a small telecommunications company, owns part of a diverse healthcare company and, with a partner, owns a legal software company. He is the author of numerous books, including Mergers & Acquisitions 101; Entrepreneur's Guide to the New Equity Crowdfunding Rules; Let's Bring America Back; and Lawyer's Guide to Blockchain Technology, among others. He attended the University of Miami, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Florida's oldest law school, Stetson University College of Law. Upon graduation from law school, he went to work for a state agency that regulates a number of businesses, primarily in the securities industry. Leaving government service, he joined a large law firm headed by a former United States Senator. His practice is now divided among his two offices in Jupiter and Stuart, Florida. His legal career over the past four decades has been broad. He has held every position from serving as a managing partner of a large law firm with four offices, to working as a sole practitioner. He has handled matters ranging from multimillion dollar mergers to murder trials. His broad corporate law experience has ranged from representing "Mom and Pop" type companies to major domestic and international corporations. He has been involved in mergers involving Fortune 500 companies as well as small private companies. Mr. Hackney is a member of The Florida Bar, the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has lectured and authored publications related to business and legal topics. Mr. Hackney has been active in many civic and community organizations, and has served as President of the Marine Industry Education Foundation, President of the Rotary Club of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, President of the Guild of Catholic Lawyers of the Diocese of Palm Beach, founder of the Alternative Energy Association, and is listed in the Who's Who Registry.
