Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2016 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Freie Universität Berlin (Geisteswissenschaften und Philosophie), Veranstaltung: Seminar, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Friedrich Schiller, geboren am 10. November 1759 in Marbach am Neckar; gestorben am 08. Mai 1805 in Weimar, war ein deutscher Dichter, Philosoph und Historiker. Schiller zählt zweifelsfrei zu den bekanntesten und vor allem bedeutendsten Lyrikern deutscher Sprache. Zusammen mit Christoph Martin Wieland, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und Johann Gottfried Herder bildet er das Viergestirn der Weimarer Klassik. Bis heute genießt seine Lyrik Aufmerksamkeit und große Wertschätzung. Diese Arbeit widmet sich dem Gedicht "Nänie", welches im August des Jahres 1800 im ersten Teil der Sammlung "Gedichte" veröffentlicht wurde. Über den genauen Zeitraum der Entstehung herrschen unterschiedliche Meinungen. Nach Friedrich Schillers eigenen Angaben entstand die "Nänie" 1799, zur Zeit der Hochklassik, es liegen jedoch keine konkreten Daten zur Entstehungsgeschichte vor, da es sehr wohl möglich sein könnte, dass Schiller selbst die "Nänie" nur als ein Nebenwerk angesehen hat. Das Gedicht orientiert sich, sowohl im Inhalt, als auch in der Form an der griechischen Antike und Mythologie. Für das Verständnis ist es daher notwendig, sich vorerst mit der griechischen Mythologie und ihren Gestalten zu befassen, denn außer der Göttin Aphrodite wird keine der Figuren namentlich genannt. Die Lektüre mag daher auf den ersten Blick als schwer zugänglich erscheinen, gar verwirren und bei der heutigen Leserschaft eine gewisse Unverständlichkeit hervorrufen. Bei den gebildeten Lesern seiner Epoche konnte Schiller aber, einzig und allein durch die Andeutungen in seinem Gedicht, einen gewissen Bezug zur antiken Mythologie voraussetzen.
