Dennoch finden sich unterschiedliche Angaben zur den Jahreszahlen. Die Personen innerhalb dieser Altersgruppe werden wegen der Grenze zur Jahrtausendwende auch Millennials genannt. Die Einordnung in die Generation Y wird allerdings nicht durch die Jahreszahl allein bestimmt, sondern auch durch den Grad der Berufsaus- bzw. Schulbildung. Sie zählen darüber hinaus zu einer finanziell abgesicherten Mittelschicht und kennen sich gut mit neuen, aber auch älteren Technologien aus. Die Millennials tragen Wünsche an Unternehmen vor, stellen meist klare Anforderungen. Diese bringen sie auch an direkte Vorgesetzte heran, die laut Studien bei fehlender Feinfühligkeit immer noch einen hohen Kündigungsgrund darstellen können, sofern der Führungsstil nicht zu den Vorstellungen der Generation Y passt. Gerade für Führungskräfte, die noch einen älteren Führungsstil anwenden, kann dies auch zu inneren Konflikten führen. Für vorherige Generationen, deren Lebenssituationen oft noch andere waren als die heutigen, lebte man meist für die Arbeit und für den Arbeitgeber. Derzeit wechselt vor allem die Generation Y häufig den Arbeitgeber, bzw. ist überwiegend auch kurzfristig dazu bereit. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Bedeutung der Anforderungen der Generation Y hervorzuheben. Außerdem soll aufgezeigt werden, wie diese Faktoren die Mitarbeiterbindung sowie Motivation beeinflussen. Unter anderem beeinflussen die neuen Anforderungen auch die Arbeitgeberattraktivität und die damit verbundene Außendarstellung eines Unternehmens. Unternehmen können mit einer kritischen und sorgsamen Berücksicht
