Beim Regattasegelsport spielen Kurslinien, Peilungen, Winddrehungen, Entfernungen, Amwindwinkel und Flächen eine ganz entscheidende Rolle. Strategie und Taktik dieser Sportart sind maßgeblich von geometrischen Größen bestimmt. Man könnte sogar sagen, dass die Geometrie den Bauplan des Regattasegelns darstellt. Für ein erfolgreiches Segeln ist es daher unverzichtbar, dass man die geometrischen Zusammenhänge auf einer Regattabahn versteht und sich dieses Wissens bedient, um Fehler zu vermeiden und Vorteile zu nutzen. Nach einem ausführlichen Blick in die bisherige Literatur zu Taktik des Segelns, einer Definition der Begriffe Strategie und Taktik, sowie einer Erklärung der verwendeten Terminologie, werden im Buch zunächst die geometrisch relevanten Tools erklärt, die jeder Segler auch ohne aufwendiges technisches Gerät anwenden kann, um eine Wettkampfsituation geometrisch richtig analysieren zu können. Anschließend wird für typische Regattasituationen der Einsatz der verschiedenen Tools beschrieben und erklärt. Im Anhang bietet das Buch eine umfangreiche Zusammenstellung von Büchern, Artikeln und Internetseiten zum Thema Taktik beim Regattasegeln. Ein Index sowie ein Glossar schließen das Buch ab.
About the Author: Tilo Schnekenburger segelt seit frühester Jugend. Anfang der 70er Jahre erfasste ihn der Windsurfsport. Hier nahm er an zahlreichen Weltmeisterschaften teil, wurde Europameister und vielfacher Deutscher und Schweizer Meister. Im Landessegler Verband Baden Württemberg ist er seit 1981 mit unterschiedlichen Aufgaben betraut. Im Landeskader war er viele Jahre verantwortlich für das Konditionstraining und die Wettkampfplanung der Nachwuchssegler und -surfer. Als Disziplintrainer der Windsurfer des Landes legte er den Grundstein für die Olympiateilnahme der Baden-Württemberger Surfer Matthias Bornhäuser und Toni Wilhelm. Schon in seiner aktiven Zeit als Regattasurfer galt er als der "Taktikfuchs vom Bodensee". Nach Beendigung seiner beruflichen Laufbahn hat er endlich die Zeit gefunden, sich mit seiner Passion intensiv zu beschäftigen und seine Gedanken und Ideen zur Strategie und Taktik des Segelsports zu Papier zu bringen.
