About the Book

Ophelia Giddings is at a new school with the ridiculous name of Crumble High. During a drama rehearsal, she attempts to rescue a kitten and puppy, but a ghost sends her back to 1943. She and another student, Cliff Thomas, must solve the mystery of why the school burned back in the 40s, or they won't be able to return to 2013. The action heats up with murder, a subversive group, and, apparently, more than one ghost. To add to the difficulties, both Cliff and Ophelia have to assume the identities of a grandparent, and try to remember not to reveal their real identities. Getting the last piece of evidence without ending up dead becomes a problem and they must use all their ingenuity, and without any of the modern conveniences of 2013.
About the Author: Joan grew up in Chicago, studied voice at Northwestern University, and then moved to Minnesota, where she finished her degree at Metropolitan State University, changing her major to the arts and including anything and everything to help her with her writing. She lives in Inver Grove Heights, a suburb of St. Paul and has been writing for years. She uses all the arts, music, art and writing, in her books by way of her characters. She joined RWA and then the Kiss of Death chapter and its Lethaladies critique group in 2005. This was followed by the Hearts Through History chapter and its HHRWCritters group, as well as the Outreach chapter. She has published the first book in a police procedural thriller series, The Hierophant, and also another YA time travel adventure, Fast Track to the Past. She has plans for a second book in the Bartonville series, another in the police procedural series, as well as a cozy mystery series, and a paranormal thriller. Aside from writing, she also enjoys painting, crocheting and singing and being with her two girls, one son, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
