About the Book

"Ghost Squadron" is a book about a pre-Teen growing to a teenage boy, Peter Walker who goes to live with his aunt, uncle and two cousins in Burghfield in the United Kingdom. Peter's parents were killed in a German Luftwaffe bombing of his home town of Vauxhall, on the suburbs of London. Twelve-year-old Peter becomes friends with a WWI pilot/ace, Roland Bauer, and learns how to fly British aircraft as well as German Luftwaffe aircraft. The goal is to attack a local airfield captured by the Luftwaffe in the town of Burghfield, 45 miles south-west of London. The story tells of Peter's experiences learning to fly aircraft and the intricacies of piloting aircraft to fly them and perform specific maneuvers used by British pilots from WWI. Maneuvers the German Luftwaffe of WWII have not been taught. Peter soon finds out that much of the town and outlying areas of Burghfield are mostly part of a British Underground called the Resistance. He also discovers that there are some in Burghfield that are sympathetic to the German Third Reich. As well as the Nazi Germany movement in hopes of gaining favor with the German military and the German National Socialist regime in the possibility of Hitler's victory over Europe.
About the Author: David W. Nelson is a Veteran of the United States Army with more than twelve years active and reserve duty. He was a weapons instructor, specializing in large-bore, long-range weapons, who was also Airborne and Air Assault qualified. David has his Bachelor of Science degree in business through the University of Phoenix. He now lives in Kansas with his partner of 20+ years and their two dogs. His father was a Veteran of the United States Airforce in the 1950's. During David's growing up in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains of Montana, his father owned his own airplanes with which David became fascinated with flying. His favorite period of the world of aviation is World War II. Captivated by aircraft such as his favorites the P-51 Mustang, the Curtiss P-40, and the F4U Corsair. His hobbies are working with wood, photography, playing drums, riding his motorcycle and writing.
