About the Book

Magic has been missing for centuries but a prophecy foretells of its return.

Livia has lived her whole life in seclusion with her caretaker, Amah. Two days before her sixteenth birthday, an unwelcome visitor arrives and she uncovers the truth of who she is--heir to the Western Kingdom's throne. Realizing the danger she's in they travel to her home city of Pynth. And when she goes to sleep the eve of her sixteenth birthday, she is excited in hopes of acquiring the lost gift of her kingdom.

Miles away in the Eastern Kingdom, Vera lives the life of an assassin. She is aware of being the kidnapped princess of the Western Kingdom who was kidnapped as a baby. King Kgar never lets her forget nor does he ever let her feel safe. Using her protective love of his five year old son, Zyrik, he holds Vera in invisible chains. King Kgar awaits the prophesied gift to awake in Vera in hopes to take control of all kingdoms. So when Vera goes to sleep on the eve of her sixteenth birthday, she dreads the possibility of anything transpiring.

A golden mirror appears in the sister's dream. Each girl admires their transformations, staring into a pair of newly acquired, violet eyes, marking their newfound magic. But the reflection reveals a startling truth--the other girl in the mirror is not them--not really. When they wake, they quickly forget about the girl as their bodies now hum with the lost magic.

Livia continues to be hunted in her travels, only to be rescued by her kingdom's Violet Guard who witness the return of magic. When their company arrives to Pynth, Livia is welcomed like a queen. There she meets the Regent. It is there her peaceful life disappears and hidden truths appear. Not only is she expected to become queen and help fight against the Eastern Kingdom, but it's revealed that one of their assassins is her twin sister. Devastated to know where her sister has been this whole time, she realizes the girl in her dreams is Vera. She attempts to communicate through the golden mirror, only to find it difficult.

Vera's promoted to Commander and must lead the deadly assassins over to the Western Kingdom to take control with her deadly gift. On her journey she uncovers she marches against a sister she never knew existed. She is told Livia wants her dead, afraid she would take the throne. Vera, tired of not having a family that cares, is determined to take the Western Kingdom down for the only family she has known, her assassins.

War ensues and Livia continues to reach Vera in their dreams. When she finally breaks through she finds it difficult to convince Vera she is not the enemy. Instead she faces a sister whot wants to hand her over to the Eastern King.

Blood will war against blood. A choice must be made.
