Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Theaterwissenschaft, Tanz, Note: 1,7, Universität Bayreuth, Veranstaltung: Inszenierungs- und Aufführungsanalyse, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 5. Februar 1887 wurde die Oper Otello in der Mailänder Scala uraufgeführt. Unzählige Opernhäuser schaffen bis heute eigene Interpretationen der Oper Giuseppe Verdis und suchen immer wieder neue Ansätze für die Interpretation derselben. Elijah Moshinsky hat 1996 an der Metropolitan Opera in New York eben diese Oper auf die Bühne gebracht. In einem stark besetzten Ensemble zeigt er seine Version von Verdis Otello. In einfühlsamer und harmonischer Art und Weise erzählt er die Geschichte des Feldherrn Otello, der mit seinem Schiff aus dem Türkenkrieg zurückkehrt und aufgrund des grausamen Intrigierens von Jago in eine gefährliche Falle tappt und sich und seine Geliebte damit in den Tod reißt. Jede Inszenierung birgt Symbole und Interpretationsmöglichkeiten für den Rezipienten, die aufgeschlüsselt und analysiert werden können, um die Hauptaussage und den motivischen Kern der Inszenierung zu erkennen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit möchte ich mich mithilfe einer solchen Inszenierungsanalyse näher mit der Inszenierung von 1996 in New York auseinandersetzen. Unter der Zuhilfenahme des "Fragenkataloges zur Inszenierungsanalyse" von Patrice Pavis aus dem Jahr 1988, werde ich mich auf einzelne Analyseschwerpunkte konzentrieren und diese im Kontext der Inszenierung erörtern. Jede Analyse ist eine Möglichkeit, die subjektiven Ideen eines Regisseurs oder künstlerischen Leiters zu interpretieren. Nachdem eine erste Heranführung an die Schwierigkeiten von Inszenierungsanalysen gezeigt wird sowie der zeitgeschichtliche Kontext der Oper erläutert wird, soll ferner gezeigt werden, worin die spezifischen Schwerpunkte der Inszenierung bestehen und wie man sie interpretieren kann. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei den drei Protagonisten Otello, Desdemona und Jago und ihrem jeweiligen Verhältnis unterein
