che è stato fra i tre finalisti del Premio Campiello - Opera Prima 2006Seguendo una delle più controverse e ambigue cronache ezzeliniane - cioè quella di Pietro Gerardo - questo romanzo racconta con nitidezza di particolari e grande partecipazione emotiva, la vita, gli intrighi e le guerre della dinastia degli Ezzelino da Romano che, tra XII e XIII secolo, ha dominato e tiranneggiato la marca Trevigiana.
Tramite il gioco del doppio narratore - che rimanda al topos antropologico delle serate attorno al fuoco della più antica tradizione orale - il giovane Pietro Gerardo riferisce le storie ascoltate dalla viva memoria della vecchia strega Erofile.

La strega ha conosciuto più di una generazione dei da Romano e ne ripercorre le gesta soffermandosi particolarmente sul diabolico Ezzelino III del quale si disse ogni peggior cosa e che, alleato dell'imperatore Federico II e come lui scomunicato dal papa, venne poi relegato da Dante all'inferno.

Il testo è avvincente e stimolante nella sua impostazione e, grazie a una coinvolgente e inappuntabile narrazione, l'autrice cesella affascinanti ritratti di vita medioevale sia nelle campagne sia nei palazzi del potere.

Una storia che viene dal passato per un libro modernissimo, da non perdere, per chi desideri vivere il romanzo della Storia raccontato con grande forza narrativa.

Giada Trebeschi bolognese, nata nel 1973 ha due lauree e un dottorato in Storia, parla cinque lingue ed è interprete simultaneo e traduttore. Attualmente vive e lavora in Germania ma è spesso on tour per presentare le sue opere, partecipare a festival, eventi teatrali o fare da interprete simultaneo ad autori come Wulf Dorn, Tim Willocks, Petros Markaris, Alex Connor, Daniel Cole, Clemens Meyer e altri.
