Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Prozess der Globalisierung und ihren Auswirkungen auf die Soziale Arbeit in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Nach einer Einleitung in die Thematik erfolgt zunächst eine Definition des Begriffs der Globalisierung. Hierbei werden mehrere Definitionen herangezogen, um eine Definition herauszuarbeiten, welche aus sozialarbeiterischer Sicht als nutzbar erscheint. Im nächsten Schritt werden die verschiedenen ökonomisch-theoretischen Grundlagen des G.prozesses erläutert. Im Besonderen wird hierbei auf die Theorie der komparativen Kostenvorteile nach David Ricardo und die antizyklische Fiskalpolitik nach John Maynard Keynes verwiesen. Darüber hinaus werden neuere Theorien (Neoliberalismus, Ordoliberalismus, Stolper-Samuelson-Theorem, Tobinsteuer) in Kürze umrissen. Im nächsten Punkt der Arbeit folgt ein geschichtlicher Überblick des G.prozesses, der die Entwicklungen vom 16. Jahrhundert bis heute in aller Kürze aufzeigt. Dieser Abschnitt gliedert sich in diverse Phasen, in denen die jeweils relevanten wirtschaftlichen und politischen Aspekte beschrieben werden, um ein besseres Verständnis für den, heute oftmals so hitzig debattierten, G.prozess zu ermöglichen. Im Rahmen dieses geschichtlichen Überblicks werden auch die drei wichtigsten weltwirtschaftlichen Institutionen (Welthandelsorganisation, Weltbank und Internationaler Währungsfond) und ihre Funktionen vorgestellt. In der nächsten Phase der Arbeit wird die kulturelle Dimension der Globalisierung beleuchtet. Zunächst wird eine Positionierung aus sozialarbeiterischer Sicht im Rahmen der soziologischen Globalisierungsdebatte um Homogenisierungs- vs. Heterogenisierungstendenzen vorgenommen. Der nächste Punkt befasst sich mit dem Prozess der Migration. Neben einer Untersuchung globaler Migrationströme und Frauenspezifischen Aspekten globaler Migration, werden die Auswirkungen der Migration in der Bundesrepublik ausführlich beschrieben.
