About the Book

Unanimously considered to be the father of the body horror film genre, David Cronemberg gave sight to a film genre that explores man's terror in the face of bodily mutation, infection and contamination of the flesh, interweaving the psychological element of the story with the physical.

He proposes a reading of the following films: Videodrome, Naked Lunch, Crash, The Fly. Matteo Cremonesi, traverses the work of the Canadian director, attempting to delineate a semantic territory whose compositional elements are as topical today as they were yesterday.

The collected texts expanded and revisited in this publication first appeared on the Visual culture research platform Phroom Platform during a period from 2019 to 2022. In collaboration with the same platform we repropose a collection of them here.

The author: Matteo Cremonesi, born in Milan (1986)
