About the Book

This book belongs on every library bookshelf because it brings to life the essence of the early leader of the success movement which permeates our society today. Orison Swett Marden is considered to be the founder of the modern success movement in America. He published Success Magazine over 100 years ago and he bridged the gap between the old notions of success and the new more comprehensive models which would later made popular by best-selling authors such as Napoleon Hill, Clement Stone, Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, Earl Nightingale, Norman Vincent Peale, and today's authors such as Stephen R.Covey, Anthony Robbins, and Brian Tracy. Be Good to Yourself was received with great fanfare on its original publication in December, 1910. Education Magazine, one of the largest magazines of its day, reported: This is another excellent volume in Dr Mardens series of inspirational books. He points out the fact that many people are good to everyone else but hard on themselves. He advocates the policy of keeping ones self at the highest point of health and efficiency, mental, moral and spiritual. Chapters on Love as a Tonic and Fun in the Home are particularly interesting. The original publication of Be Good to Yourself is very difficult for todays reader to get through since the 100 year old language and the references used are horribly out of date. In an effort to make the book readable and enjoyed by todays enthusiasts in the success movement Ross Books edited the title while keeping the original flavor and style of the book and this gives us a unique glimpse at what the founders of the movement would sound like if they were published today. In summary, Be Good To Yourself edited by Ross Books gives us the ability to hear the founder of the success movement speaking to todays audience as he would if he were alive today.
