About the Book

A man on the run must win over the feuding Gypsy underworld to save his family from the wrath of his past mistakes.

An expert safe-cracker, TROY GLOVER, tries to keep his son, SPIDER, a promising boxer, from the clutches of Troy's own criminal past and vengeful associate, JIMMY THE FIX. Jimmy offers Troy what seems to be a simple deal: to chaperone Jimmy's predatory son, LENNY, on his first heist. However, this heist goes terribly wrong, and Troy must kill Lenny to save himself and two innocent lives. Killing Lenny was the right thing to do, but of course Jimmy sees things differently, and vows violent retribution against Troy's family. Troy turns himself into the police, seeking a plea deal, and sacrifices his own freedom to protect his family from Jimmy's wrath.

However DCI FORDHAM, who is an old friend, is being blackmailed by Jimmy, and betrays Troy. Falsely incarcerated, Troy is powerless as his son Spider pursues bare-knuckle glory and a budding romance with CASSIE, the daughter of the KING OF THE GYPSIES. However, Spider's rising prominence betrays his identity to Jimmy, who has him brutally murdered. Hearing of his son's death, Troy breaks out of prison, seeking his own retribution. Tracing his son's path, he takes refuge within a small, outcast Gypsy community, led by MANFRI, and seeks their help in tracking down his estranged family. Troy soon finds that this insular community is hostile to outsiders and embroiled in its own civil war, but he also discovers that he has more in common with the Gypsies than he first thought. With Manfri's help, who has his own reasons for seeking revenge on Jimmy, they hatch a plan to take down this powerful mob boss.

Outnumbered, out muscled and outmanoeuvred, Troy soon realises that his only chance to save his own family is to first unite the feuding Gypsies. It seems an impossible task, but Troy has learnt that, in this society, if you can't appeal to the man as a father, you must appeal to him as a fighter. Succeeding against the odds, Troy leads an army of Gypsies into battle against Jimmy and his mercenaries. But this fight culminates in a shocking revelation that puts them all in mortal danger.
