About the Book

Family-friendly historical fiction: The year is 1912. Gracie Jones awaits the return of her good friend, Cornelia Vanderbilt. Cornelia is due to arrive home soon on the maiden voyage of the Titanic, along with her parents, George and Edith Vanderbilt. After the family arrives back in the states safely, Gracie joins them for some time in her home city, New York City, before joining them for an exciting trip to their home in Asheville, North Carolina - the magnificent Biltmore House. During her visits Gracie joins the family in many of their daily activities, while learning more about the background of this majestic home and the intriguing stories of its family. Early reviews: "Stunning. Spellbinding. Tremendously enjoyable."
About the Author: Catherine wears many hats these days - from mother to teacher, to historian to author. One of her favorite genres to read and write is historical fiction, and she has authored numerous historical novels and short stories. Her writings have included several novels about Leonardo da Vinci and a short story about the "monuments' men" and their work in Wuerzburg, Germany. Catherine has traveled extensively - throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Her many trips have included following the Lewis and Clark Trail in 2005 with members of her family and volunteering at Jamestown during the four hundred year anniversary in 2007. On a trip back to Panama (her birthplace) in 2008 she started her "Horsey and Friends" series, which she has continued during recent school trips to Washington, D.C. and Virginia. Throughout her travels and her teaching she has found much inspiration for her writing.
