La etnografía del Gran Chaco es amazónica. Los textos que componen la primera parte del libro nos muestran un conjunto de características de los pueblos chaqueños que se corresponden con lo que Carlos David Londoño (2012) ha denominado el "paquete amazónico": el foco en el cuerpo humano y sus elementos como matriz primaria de significado social, la existencia de un cosmos perspectivista mediado por relaciones con una alteridad peligrosa y potencialmente fecunda. Dr. Juan Álvaro Echeverri (Universidad Nacional de Colombia)Los artículos de la segunda parte muestran elementos de la afectividad como método, en claro contraste con la afectividad sólo como objeto, cosa que ha realizado en general la teoría antropológica. Para la antropología americanista, en particular para aquella de las sociedades de tierras bajas como las del Gran Chaco, la afectividad como método es particularmente adecuada. Si las categorías convencionales de la antropología no consiguen describir con precisión la sociología de estos colectivos y se piensa que tanto sus estructuras como su alma son inestables e inaccesibles, quizá el problema provenga del ángulo de aproximación. Pero tal como estos artículos muestran, al enfocar con la lente de la afectividad como método, los contornos borrosos se perfilan, las instituciones amorfas se dibujan y regularidades intensivas y modulares parecen emerger.Dr. Alexandre Surrallés (cnrs, Francia)Los estudios de la tercera parte constituyen una excelente ilustración de que sólo combinando los métodos y las perspectivas de la antropología y la historia se podrá dar cuenta de las articulaciones recíprocas entre el ejercicio del poder y la cultura en la fábrica de las identidades sociales. Es Investigadora del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (conicet) y miembro asociado del equipo Enseignement et Recherche en Ethnologie Amérindienne (erea) del cnrs de Francia. Se desempeña como profesora en la Universidad de Buenos Aires.Celeste Medrano obtuvo el título de Licenciada en Biodiversidad en la Universidad Nacional del Litoral (unl) de Santa Fe y se graduó como Doctora en Antropología en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba). Es becaria post-doctoral del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (conicet). Trabaja asociada al Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas (ica). Su línea de investigación es la etnozoología.Lorena Cardin es licenciada en Ciencias Antropológicas por la Universidad de Buenos Aires (uba). Se desempeña como asesora externa de organismos de Derechos Humanos y del Estado. Es becaria doctoral y docente de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.
