About the Book

A spinoff group from the Occupy Movement kidnaps a scientist who's unlocked the secret of gravity. An international anti-terrorism team intercepts their plans to distribute the weaponized negative-gravity technology to activists around the globe. World governments fear the terrorists could rain icebergs on cities unless they meet their demands. With the clock ticking, the FBI-led team is desperate for help and taps an unusual source - celebrity chef Nathan Sherlock and his business partner Bonnie Nakagowa. Sherlock, known as Nate The Nose for a superlative sense of smell that guides his cooking, has olfactory abilities far beyond what his fans suspect. He can smell murder. The anti-terrorism squad has secretly observed Nate and Bonnie's anonymous crime-fighting for years and recruits them into a world of intrigue. The culinary duo soon discovers nothing is what it seems. They can trust no one along a dark journey that at every step puts their lives and freedom at risk.Fans of Sherlock Holmes and chef Jamie Oliver will appreciate the first novel to feature the dark and delicious world of Nathan Sherlock. His dining magic gives aged couples a hormone blast from the past, making them act and feel like randy teenagers. His nose also points him to a sizzling adventure that gives new meaning to genre blurring with a recipe that includes a dash of sci-fi, a cup of international terrorism, a sprinkling of superhero action, a pinch of revenge, and side dishes that include a business thriller, a foodie adventure, and humour. Here's what reviewers had to say: "John Matsui's Gravity Games is an innovative novel, way out of the box - it's not your run-of-the-mill thriller. The characterization is extraordinary .... The plot weaves in and out, up and down, backwards and forward, creating several riveting, spiraling illusive sub-plots. The science of 'negative gravity, ' the hidden agendas, all the underlying lurid details portray a mind-boggling narrative."Five Stars - Cheryl E. Rodriguez for ReadersFavorite.com. "Delightfully different in its approach, even Nathan's nose for trouble is challenged in Gravity Games, which winds science into the mix and invites mystery fans to investigate realms that usually lie outside the typical genre read ... Terrorism and food usually don't mix; but here they are explored in exquisite passages that keep readers guessing and involved. The hallmark of a solid mystery read is its ability to captivate even the most avid of genre readers: Gravity Games doesn't just involve; it immerses readers in the finer details of the story. Highly recommended for any mystery fan who also happens to cultivate an affection for food and special problem-solving abilities. Five stars - Diane C. Donovan for Midwest Book ReviewThe characters could have been enough to carry this novel, mind you, but no, it's also a plot of very finely crafted gears and super-satisfying games that had me chortling and had me nodding my head when it came to the big issues, too.It was fun, fascinating, and I haven't had this much fun with antigravity in... um... EVER!Five Stars - Bradley Horner, Top Goodreads Review
