The Taliban cannot be conquered, the Russians tried, the Americans tried, let's see now if the Chinese try. After twenty years of American occupation, the Taliban say, "the Americans have the clocks, but the Taliban have the time." That may be true, but God has the time, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. God is not moved by waving machine guns, or by merciless executions. This grieves God.
How will the Taliban rule, particularly with regard to women, now that the Americans are gone? Twenty years feel more like sixty years for a population whose life-expectancy is only thirty years. American millennials start "adulting" at age thirty. For an entire generation Taliban women experienced Western freedom, but what is better, some of them have experienced the freedom that can only come from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Humility, submission, obedience, these are components of fervent prayers but, sadly, Afghani women have practiced these traits while being oppressed by Afghani men.
God listens attentively to the prayers of mothers, daughters, sisters, and all women. Taliban men should recognize the power of a woman's prayers, and they should put that prayer to work to rebuild their nation. The saying goes, "behind every great man is a great woman." But in my
life, I say, "a praying woman, who is honored and listened to by her man, builds a great man."
She inculcates in her man the attributes of family responsibility and Godly purpose. My wife stood by me and helped me avoid a lot of testosterone fueled, boneheaded decisions, that could have killed me, or at least put me in jail. I'm not just bashing men here. Let's not deny that estrogen causes a lot of unnecessary anxiety, depression, and gossip. But how can we coexist with the opposite sex? How can Arabs and Jews get
along? This book has the answer to all conflicts. His name is Jesus!
