The magazine showcases the literary and artistic talent of people of all ages throughout western Lane County, Oregon and beyond.Groundwaters originated in Veneta, Oregon and is currently based in Lorane, Oregon where its production office is located. It features local history, poetry, short stories, essays, personal and business profiles, photography and artwork as well as long-running columns and an 18-and-under section called "Bubbling Up" which provides a forum for local youth. This book is a collection of favorite poems by some of Groundwaters' family of contributors. About the Author: Editors, Pat Edwards, Jennifer Chambers, Pat Broome and Jim Burnett are the staff of Groundwaters magazine. They took over the ownership of Groundwaters in 2007, from its creators, Judy and Sonny Hays-Eberts. They are all volunteers and donate their time and experience to support the magazine. Pat Edwards, the Managing Editor for Groundwaters magazine is also a local historian. She is the author of two major books on the history of her small rural community, "Sawdust and Cider; A History of Lorane, Oregon and the Siuslaw Valley" published in 1987; and "From Sawdust and Cider to Wine," published in 2006. Pat is also the Lorane columnist for the weekly Fern Ridge Review newspaper. Jen Chambers is the Assistant Editor of Groundwaters as well as author of several books including "Learning Life Again" (2009) and short stories that were published in eight horror anthologies between 2009-2011. A horror novel, "Listen to Gran," was published in 2011, and her Young Adult novel "The Curious Bookshop" was released in February 2013. Jen is also the recipient of The Erica Atkisson Memorial Scholarship from the 2012 South Coast Writers Conference in Gold Beach, Oregon. Pat Broome is an independent scholar, historian and observer of humanity. She is a much-valued Contributing Editor for Groundwaters. She is our main proofreader and catches many of our typos and other errors before we go to print. Pat is currently the board chairperson for the Fern Ridge Library Board and is a well-respected colleague. Jim Burnett is the Business Manager and is a Contributing editor for Groundwaters. In his personal life, he wears the masks of son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. According to Jim, in his wardrobe he has other masks -- that of friend, full time RVer, independent New Thought minister, prayer-partner, writer and a bunch of worn out masks including crisis counselor, chaplain, parts manager, international trade consultant, safety and environmental compliance specialist and shoe salesman. "I'm not sure that in the course of a single lifetime on planet Earth we can ever strip away all of our masks to reveal the divine spark of our true nature. My hope is that we can at least come to understand that we, each and every one of us, is so much more than what we, or anyone else, perceives us to be."
