Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Literaturwissenschaft - Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Freie Universität Berlin, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Arbeit soll die Art und Weise der Darstellung der Großstadt in den Epochen des Naturalismus (ca. 1880 bis 1900) und des Expressionismus (ca. 1905 bis 1925) am Beispiel zweier Gedichte: "Großstadtmorgen" (1886) von Arno Holz (Naturalismus) und "Städter" (1914) von Alfred Wolfenstein (Expressionismus) verglichen werden. Leitend soll dabei die folgende Forschungsfrage sein: Auf welche Weise wird die Großstadt im Naturalismus, auf welche Weise im Expressionismus dargestellt - und worin unterscheiden sich diese beiden Darstellungsformen? Hierfür bedarf es zunächst einer kurzen und überblicksartigen Einführung die Geschichte der Großstadt als Motiv der Literatur (Kap. 2). Danach sollen schlaglichtartig die wesentlichen Merkmale der Epochen des Naturalismus (Kap. 3) und des Expressionismus (Kap. 4) beleuchtet werden. Im Zentrum der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Naturalismus steht die Lyriktheorie von Arno Holz; der Expressionismus wird im Sinne von Anz (2010) als eine Reaktion auf eine epochenspezifische Krisenerfahrung verstanden. Das fünfte Kapitel widmet sich schließlich der vergleichenden Gedichtanalyse unter gegebener Fragestellung. Ein Fazit fasst zuletzt die wesentlichen Ergebnisse der Arbeit zusammen und gibt Ausblick auf weiterführende Fragestellungen. Die Großstadt inspirierte Literaten schon seit der Entstehung dieser neuen Lebensräume im Zuge der Industrialisierung. Die Großstadt wurde im Zuge der Literaturgeschichte sowohl als Raum für Möglichkeiten, Entfaltung und Abenteuer wahrgenommen, wie auch als bedrohlicher, lebensfeindlicher Moloch, in dem die Massen im Elend leben. Und so vielseitig wie die Großstadt selbst ist auch ihre Darstellung in der Literatur. Dem will die vorliegende Arbeit am Beispiel der Darstellung der Großstadt in der Gattung der Lyrik um 1900 nachspüren.
