Im Mittelpunkt der handelsbetrieblichen Forschung hat bisher das Konzept der "Funktionslehre des Handels" gestanden, das zu einer Analyse und Syste- matisierung der Aufgaben und T?tigkeiten der Handelsbetriebe fiihrte. Die modellanalytische Betrachtungsweise und die Anwendung quantitativer Methoden, wie sie in vielen anderen Bereichen der Wirtschaftstheorie seit langem angewandt werden, hat jedoch in die Handelsbetriebslehre bisher kaum Eingang gefunden. Der Verfasser der vorliegenden Arbeit will ausgehend von der Theorie des Tausches diese Liicke schlieBen und einen Beitrag zur Theorie des Handels- betriebes leisten. Der Verfasser versucht durch das Aufgreifen der in der Grenznutzenschule von Walras, Menger, Jevons u. a. aufgestellten These, daB ein Wirtschaftssubjekt nur dann tauscht, also Handel treibt, wenn es dadurch seine okonomische Lage verbessern kann, eine neue, quantitativ ausgerichtete theoretische Grundlage der Handelsbetriebslehre zu entwickeln. Hierbei bedient sich der Verfasser zu- n?chst des bekannten, von Edgeworth und Pareto entwickelten Modells des isolierten Tausches. AnschlieBend wird durch Erweiterung des Datenkranzes und bei Verminderung des Abstraktionsgrades die Analyse des Handels und seiner Institutionallsierung mit Hilfe ausgew?h1ter zweistufiger Marktformenmodelle behandelt. Hierbei werden einige neue Aspekte und Gedanken iiber die partielle und totale Ein- und Ausschaltung von Handelsbetrieben sowie zur vertikalen Preisbindung vorgetragen. Die gesamte Untersuchung ist zwar statisch und abstrahiert von den Problemen der Unsicherheit und der Lagerhaltung, aber sie ist als umfassender Versuch einer Neuorientierung der Handelsbetriebslehre zu werten. Zugleich diirfte sie als erste umfangreiche Monographie iiber die Theorie mehrstufiger Marktformen in erkl?rungstheoretischer Hinsicht neue Gedanken und Ausfiihrungen zu diesem Bereich der Betriebswirtschaftslehre enthalten.
