Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Musik - Sonstiges, Note: 2,8, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im neuen Zeitalter der Ars nova entstanden neue kompositorische Entwicklungen, sowie eine erweiterte Mensuralnotation, durch die der Rhythmus noch besser notiert werden konnte. Mit Guillaume de Machaut, als einen der Hauptvertreter dieser Epoche, entstanden zahlreiche mehrstimmige Liedformen wie Balladen und Virelais. Zwar erreichte die Mehrstimmigkeit bereits während der Notre- Dame Epoche einen Höhepunkt, jedoch erschwerte die damalige Modalnotation die Darstellung der Tondauern, sodass der entscheidende Schritt zur Mensuralnotation unternommen werden musste. Kennzeichnend für die Ars nova sind die isorhythmische Motette, welche die Grundlage für Machauts Messe de nostre Dame bietet, sowie der erweiterte Conductus. Während in zwei der sechs Messeteile ein conductusartiger Satz zugrunde liegt, der frei durchkomponiert wurde, so herrscht in den übrigen Teilen das Prinzip der Isorhythmie. "Strenge Durchführung eines Choraltenors findet sich im Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus und Deo gracias. So gestaltet Machaut hier einen Großzyklus, der im 14. Jh. nirgends ein Gegenstück hat." Im Folgenden wird auf die Epoche der Ars nova genauer eingegangen, sowie auf Machauts literarisches und musikalisches Schaffen. Den Mittelpunkt der Arbeit bildet seine einzig komponierte Messe La messe de nostre Dame, anhand der, die typischen Kompositionsmittel der Ars Nova genauer dargestellt werden. Im Zentrum der Messe steht die Isorhythmie als komplexes Kompositionsgerüst, welche unterschiedliche Verbindungen der Messeteile herstellt. Ohne diese isorhythmischen Geflechte wäre Machauts Messe nicht zu einer solch komplexen und damit einzigartigen Messe geworden.
