About the Book

Als Wirtschaftstheoretiker und insbesondere als prononcierter Kritiker der Werttheorie erfreute sich Friedrich Gottl-Ottlilienfeld zu seiner Zeit eines beträchtlichen Ansehens und Einflusses. Davon ist nicht viel mehr übriggeblieben als ein sicherer, wenn auch bescheidener Platz in der Geschichte der Volkswirtschaftslehre. Vermutlich hat, was die geringe Fortwirkung des Gottischen Werks angeht, auch der Umstand eine Rolle gespielt, daß es bei ihm, mehr noch bei einigen Schülern, in den späteren Jahren zu einer Anpassung an die nationalsozialistische Ideologie gekommen ist. Gottls metho- dologische Überlegungen galten allerdings seit jeher in weiten Kreisen als allzu idiosynkratisch, außerdem als gedanklich unklar und wegen der sehr eigenwilligen Ausdrucksweise schwer verständlich. Es gab allerdings Gelehrte, die die Originalität und Bedeutung gerade dieser Arbeiten, und zwar insbesondere des frühen Hauptwerks Die Herrschaft des Wortes. Untersuchungen zur Kritik des nationalökonomischen Denkens (190 I), sehr nachdrücklich hervorhoben. Unter ihnen ragen zwei hervor. Der eine ist Martin Heidegger (in Sein und Zeit). Dessen Wertschätzung könnte man allerdings damit zu erklären versuchen, daß er sich seinerseits ja bekanntlich im wissenschaftlich und auch sprachlich Abwegigen bewegt habe. Wie unbrauchbar eine solche, Erklärung ist, zeigt der zweite dieser Gelehrten. Es ist Max Weber, der vor allem Die Herrschaft des Wortes in seiner Wissenschaftslehre wiederholt als höchst originelle und inspirierende Analyse anfUhrt. Allerdings werden Gottls Überlegungen weder von Heidegger noch von Weber (auch nicht in dessen Korrespondenz mit Gottl) aufgenommen, interpretiert und im einzelnen geprüft.
About the Author: Dr. Takemitsu Morikawa studierte Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Keio University Tokyo und promovierte bei Prof. Dr. Johannes Weiß am Lehrstuhl für Soziologische Theorie und Philosophie der Sozialwissenschaften der Universität Gesamthochschule Kassel, wo er als Lehrbeauftragter für Philosophie und Soziologie tätig war. Er ist derzeit Researchfellow der Japan Society for the Promotion of Science an der University of Tokyo.
