Geboren Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts, erlebte sie zwei Weltkriege, Wirtschaftskrisen und Krankheiten. Umso mehr genießt sie nun ihre Freundschaft zu Harriet, uralt, weise und eine große Philosophin. Die beiden alten Damen lassen es sich auf der Pazifikinsel gutgehen, knabbern ab und an einen Grashalm und reden - über vergangene Zeiten, über das Leben und über den Tod. Dieter Heymann ist eine muntere Mischung gelungen: eine Hommage in Form einer Roman-Biografie an seine über alles geliebte Mutter und ein weiter Bogen von deren Lebensgeschichte über Lokalhistorismus hin zu den Thesen der großen Philosophen.
About the Author: Dieter Heymann, 1945 in Darmstadt geboren, absolvierte nach dem Abitur eine Lehre zum Einzelhandelskaufmann. Anschließend arbeitete er einige Jahre im Außendienst eines Industrieunternehmens. Im Jahr 1970 übernahm er die Leitung des Familienunternehmens Darmstädter Bettenhaus. Neben seinem Beruf war er von 1972-1980 Vorstandsmitglied beim Einzelhandelsverband Hessen-Süd e.V., in den Jahren 1978-1982 Mitglied der Vollversammlung der IHK Darmstadt, 1983-1993 Mitglied des Prüfungs-Ausschusses für Einzelhandelskaufleute, 1980-1986 Mitglied des Verwaltungs-Ausschusses des Arbeitsamtes Darmstadt. Neben seinem Beruf galt sein großes Interesse der Psychologie. In den Jahren 1975-1978 studierte er an der Akademie für Verhaltenspsychologie in München. An der Akademie für natürliche Heilweisen und prophylaktische Medizin, Dr. med. Götz Blome, St. Märgen, absolvierte er in mehreren Seminaren eine Ausbildung zum Bachblüten-Berater nach dem englischen Arzt Dr. Bach. In den Jahren 2003-2012 war er für ein Magisterstudium in den Fächern Philosophie und Psychologie an der TU in Darmstadt immatrikuliert. Seit 2006 hat er als Vorstands- und Gründungsmitglied, Fachbereichsleiter und Organisator verschiedener Vortragsreihen am Aufbau des gemeinnützigen Vereins Akademie 55plus Darmstadt e.
