About the Book

I had just arrived onto the crime scene and saw a man being loaded into an ambulance. The uniformed officer said, "I think his son shot him," I heard a car stop behind me, I looked back and saw it was my sergeant. He asked me what happened and I shrugged my shoulders. He told me to ride with the victim in the ambulance. After closing the door, I kneeled next to him and saw blood forming a crimson stain on his white work shirt. Blood had already caked around the corner of his mouth, and his teeth were red. This man was dying. "Who shot you?" I asked. He cursed at me and then he began making a gurgling sound. "Oh God!" I thought. That was a sure sign he was as good as dead. I was a cop, and he was the victim, or was he? I would later learn that this man tormented his children for nearly a decade. No one in his family was safe from his violence and unthinkable cruelty. Why would his son shot him?
About the Author: Being a police officer was not something I grew up wanting to be. The few run ins I had with the police as a teen ager weren't very good. I took a class at a college in Central Texas that changed all of that. It was called, "Criminal Investigations" I was hooked, that's all it took. I took another, then another, and made it my major. I was in the army and I couldn't wait to go home and attend a police academy. I discovered that it wasn't quite that easy, I had to get a sponsor. I found one and enrolled in the Seminole Police Academy in Sanford, Florida. I had found my calling, in March of 1980 I was hired by the Kissimmee Police Department. I could have worked sixteen hours a day every day if they would have let me. Three years later I would lose my partner and closest friend. He was shot and killed during an armed domestic encounter. We all endured and suffered. His death still hurts 34 years later In 1984 I was transferred to narcotics, where I would remain until leaving the police department in 1988. The sheriff offered me a position as his drug enforcement supervisor. I accepted his offer and served with him for four years. He lost his re-election and we all moved on to other things
