About the Book

Jeff Conners teaches boys to swim in Oxford, Mississippi for seven dollars and twenty-five cents an hour. Three years earlier, he was on the verge of becoming the most decorated athlete in the history of the Olympic games. Banned from competitive swimming for blood doping, Conners is struggling to make sense of his failed life until he accidentally discovers an amazing young talent swimming in the muddy waters of nearby Moon Lake, sparking an idea that will ultimately return Jeff to the Olympic stage only this time as coach of this rare swimming phenomenon, but there's a problem - the kid's autistic. A life-changing journey begins, canvassed upon the odd and often comical challenges associated with placing a disabled kid onto the U.S. Olympic Team, but it's not just the boy who's changing. Bonded together when their husbands were killed in a tragic accident, a bizarre family structure of a beautiful young mother and over-protective grandmother raise this special boy together, struggling to make ends meet, but living in a depth of love few families will ever touch. It's a type of love Conners has never experienced before and it has him thinking on what truly matters in life.Once again, Jeff stands at the familiar threshold of Olympic greatness as his challenged protege has advanced to the 1500-meter Olympic Freestyle Finals, but now Conners faces a choice he hadn't anticipated. Choose between the athletic redemption he desperately craves or the new life and love that's blossomed along his journey back to the pinnacle of athletic competition. He can't have one without sacrificing the other.
About the Author: Rob Wierick is a writer and licensed architect living in Double Oak, Texas with his wife, two daughters and a cool cat named Toby. He has always enjoyed writing as a creative outlet and notes its similarities to architectural design where exciting new places can be created for the enjoyment of the user simply from the whims of imagination. He also adds it's a lot cheaper to write a place rather than construct one! Healing Waters is Rob's debut novel.
