About the Book

By the time you are done reading this sentence, at least one American will have died from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or cancer. It doesn't have to be that way. And it doesn't have to eat away at your thoughts. There are simple ways to avoid being part of these disease statistics. It's not what's eating you, it's what you are eating. Over 550,000 Americans die of cancer each year.Over 610,000 Americans die of heart disease each year.Every year, about 730,000 Americans experience a heart attack. Heart disease kills about one American every minute. While heart disease is the leading cause of death, cancer is the second. Every year about 795,000 Americans experience a stroke. About 125,000 die from it. That's one every four minutes. Every year, about 70,000 Americans die of diabetes, and it plays a role in an additional 240,000 deaths. Question: What is the thing playing a chief role in cancer, heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and common degenerative and chronic illnesses? Answer: Food choices. In this book, John McCabe delves into what is leading so many people to experience such devastating health problems. Using a variety of sources, the book looks into the causes of and simple ways to avoid common health problems. One common factor in these disease processes is what people choose to eat. It should be no surprise to anyone paying attention that the more meat, dairy, eggs, clarified sugars, transfats, and processed food a person eats, the higher their risk of experiencing not only cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer, but also diseases like Alzheimer's, MS, arthritis, eczema, asthma, osteoporosis, obesity, kidney disorder, and conditions like high blood pressure, acne, and varicose veins, and, in men, erectile dysfunction. Whether you are seeking to turn your health around, or to avoid the most common degenerative and chronic diseases, this book provides information and guidelines you can use.
About the Author: Turning to a clean, plant-base diet to regain his health after several near-death experiences, and learning the hard way that standard medical care can be anything but health infusing, John McCabe began writing books exposing the corruption, dysfunction, and flaws of the medical industry. McCabe's first book was Surgery Electives: What to Know Before the Doctor Operates. First published in 1994, and now out of print, it was an exposé of the financial ties of the medical school, hospital, pharmaceutical, and health insurance industries whose unethical business practices result in the deaths of tens of thousands of people in the U.S. every year. The book was endorsed by some congresspersons and by all of the patients' rights groups in North America. Although it was written for the American market, it went on to sell internationally. Realizing that medical care in Western culture is largely the end result of horrible dietary choices centered around toxic processed foods, McCabe turned to writing about how a plant-based diet can prevent and reverse a wide variety of diseases while also protecting the environment.
