About the Book

Jeb Lawson is one hell of a man. His very glance stops men in their tracks. A legendary gunfighter turned sheriff, his deadly accurate draw is so fast that his hands move in a blur. The Marlin Brothers are riding hell for leather and the town Stonewood is in their gun sites as they plan the jailbreak of oldest brother Carl. Daniel Marlin wants dark haired beauty Laura Madison, the love of Jeb's life. Youngest brother Luke Marlin idolizes Jeb for his quick draw speed yet still wants the notoriety that beating the sheriff will bring. Can Jeb walk the thin line between vengeance and justice as he tries to solve the town's latest murder and save the woman he loves? Is redemption possible for the gunslinger turned sheriff or will he be forever cursed with a Heart of Stone.Excerpt from Heart of Stone: Jeb raised his hand, but before he could speak, he heard the words, "Four dollars." The town's mayor, George Godfrey shot him a friendly grin. "I bid four dollars on Miss Laura's lunch." Laura gasped. It was quite a sum to offer on a lunch. But it was from the wrong man! She'd been politely fending off Mayor Godfrey for months. Thank goodness, he hadn't gone to her father to ask for her hand in marriage as Davis had or she'd be in the same predicament; forced to marry a man she didn't love. But she had a feeling that the mayor wasn't really after a wife, he more in the need of a...Jeb was not about to be intimidated by the mayor. "Five dollars, fifty cents." He crossed his arms and glance around the gathering crowd daring any other man to speak up. Apparently, George didn't get the message. "Six dollars." Determined to teach the sheriff his place, George crossed his arms in front of him. He would be pleased to see this famous gunman get his comeuppance. After all, this was his town, not the sheriff's. Jeb's dark eyes narrowed to obsidian slits. He stared at the mayor and watched as sweat broke out over the heavyset man's face."Seven dollars," Jeb said proudly and was amused as the town folk began to take a step back. Soon everyone stood either to his side or behind him. What the hell did they think he would do, shoot a man for a sandwich? Sometimes having a reputation was downright convenient.
