About the Book

WELCOME TO THE COMEDY REVOLUTION! A high school principal decides that "laughter is the best medicine," so he forces his school's habitual trouble makers into a new kind of after school detention. The students, who all hate each other, are compelled to form a "comedy club" and perform a funny show for the school. In the process of putting together a show, they learn to respect each other and they actually develop twelve good comedy sketches. Will this creative outlet alter their bad behavior or inspire them to stir up more trouble? The answer lies within.
About the Author: From 1995 to 2012, Harry Michael Bagdasian directed the projects of The Comedy Academy which ran afterschool programs teaching middle school and high school students comic acting and sketch comedy writing. Meriwether Publishing LTD/Contemporary Drama Service published fourteen anthologies of comedy sketches and two one-act comedies that have been performed in over 4,000 schools worldwide. These anthologies are aimed at young audience markets and were written by Mr. Bagdasian either solo or in partnership, some with co-writer Lisa Itté, others with his students. They also published two anthologies of student-written comedy sketches. An award-winning dramatist, Harry's plays have been produced by The New England Actor's Theatre, New Haven, CT, Source Theatre, Imagination Stage in Washington, DC, community theatres and schools around the world. He has co-authored four theatre for young audience plays with playwright Ernie Joselovitz that are continually performed in schools. This includes the heartwarming story of a young Irish girl who just wants to "fit in," JOURNEY TO THE WORLD'S EDGE, A FOLK TALE IN THE IRISH TRADITION. Harry was a pioneer in the Washington, DC small theatre movement, the precursor to DC's large and now flourishing professional theater community. For 25 years he has been writing and directing special events for a wide array of clients including Arena Stage, The United States Army, and professional associations & labor unions. More at www.hbagdasian.org Liam A. H. Brennan graduated from Northwood High School (NHS) one month before this new comedy premiered in Washington, DC's Capital Fringe Festival to media acclaim. He is a veteran of The Comedy Academy's comedy writing workshops and twelve of its productions. In addition to co-writing "HeHEE," Liam created twelve out of the fourteen comedy sketches the students are seen rehearsing or performing in this play. Liam has been writing comedy since 2007 when he created three sketches for his middle school's annual comedy production. He was in 8th grade. By the time he graduated from high school this June, he had created more than two dozen comedy sketches and a full-length political satire, CARP. HELL'S LIBRARY AND 15 MORE TV PARODIES CREATED BY STUDENTS FOR STUDENTS, includes four of his sketches. Liam was a writer/performer in TCA's 2010 Capital Fringe Festival production, "Fresh From The Funny Farm - Local Laughs." He is currently creating a sequel to HeHEE!
