Die lingua tertii imperii, die Sprache des Dritten Reichs, hat – dank eines großen Einverstandnisses mit, einer ruckhaltlosen gedanklichen Zustimmung zu einem furchterlichen, aus pomposer Monumentalitat und Gefuhlsduselei verfertigten Jargon, den man als sprachliche Thingstatte bezeichnen konnte – alles und jedes durchdrungen. Den Zwangen des Nationalsozialismus entkam niemand, und was damals in Deutschland erlebt und geschrieben wurde, tragt ihren sichtbaren Stempel und ist seither einem bestimmten Denken ein fur alle Mal eingeschrieben. Dieser Jargon hatte die Sprache so sehr infiltriert und entstellt, dass jene Schadlinge, die die worter nicht benutzten, im Handumdrehen zu erkennen waren. Da Heideggers Denken mit eben dieser Sprache amalgamiert ist, kann es, selbst seinem politischen Gehalt nach, nicht ins Franzosische ubertragen werden. Was Heidegger sagt, lasst sich partout nicht trennen von der Sprache, die es zum Ausdruck bringt, und zwar umso weniger, als sein ganzes Bemuhen darauf gerichtet ist, Sprache letztlich von ihrer Wurzel her, in ihrer Vertikalitat zu fassen. Die Arbeit der Ubersetzerin am vorliegenden Text wurde dankenswerterweise vom Deutschen Ubersetzerfonds gefordert. Vita Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt, geboren 1928 in Reinbek bei Hamburg, emigrierte als Kind nach Italien und spater nach Frankreich, heute lebt er in Paris.
