About the Book

Hierba Mala: Una historia del rock en Cuba features a historical and chronological overview of rock music's presence in Cuba- from its arrival in 1956 through 2012. The author includes not only his own perspective, but also captures the diverse opinions of others in search of a comprehensive vision. All of this is accompanied by photos, many of them previously unpublished. Humberto Manduley is an independent researcher with over four decades of expertise in the history of rock in Cuba. He worked in radio for 21 years, collaborated on the Latin Heavy Metal and Punk-Hardcore Dictionaries published by Zona de Obras-SGAE, writes for numerous Cuban and international magazines and is the author of El Rock en Cuba (2001, Atril Publishers).
