About the Author: With more than 20 years of real estate experience, Laurel takes pride in helping seniors and their families navigate the difficult path of life transitions. She buys, renovates, and sells home while helping other find the solutions for their housing needs. In addition to being a frequent speaker at a local real estate investment and Mastermind clubs, Laurel has presented to real estate conferences across the country and internationally.

Laurel is a graduate of Sacramento State University, a Landmark-trained coach, licensed state contractor, and a proud member of the Elder Services Network. She lives in Sacramento with her spouse and their fur-baby, a lemon beagle named Isabella "Izzy" Lemondrop. Sheila Buff is a highly experienced writer, ghostwriter, developmental editor, and book doctor specializing in the areas of health, medicine and social issues. When she's not working with independent authors to create their books, she writes about birdwatching, gardening, the outdoors, and the Hudson Valley. She is the author of NYS Canalway Water Trail Guidebook, the official paddling guide to the Erie Canal system, published in 2019. With her husband Joe, she is the coauthor of You Bet Your Life: Your Guide to Deadly Risk, published by Abbeville Press in 2022. Sheila, Joe, and their dog Daisy live in the small town of Milan in the beautiful mid-Hudson Valley. Following a long career as a chief executive officer managing state-wide professional
associations, chambers of commerce, and non-governmental organizations, in 2013, Linda
Gillman earned a doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology from Sofia University in Palo Alto,
California. Her academic research included a formal research dissertation -- The Psychospiritual
Dimensions of Living with Life-Threatening Illness -- which was published by ProQuest and to
date has been referenced over 5,000 times by graduate students seeking advanced degrees in
psychology.
While a doctoral candidate at Sofia University, Gillman served as a teaching aid for a fourth year
doctoral-level class titled: Self, Collective, and Global Psychologies. In this role she helped
graduate students develop a synthesis of the course content and hone their writing skills. Dr.
Gillman is a life member of Phi Gamma Mu and Psi-Chi and a member of the Society of
Humanistic Psychology of the American Psychological Association and other professional
groups.
Gillman continues to offer her writing skills as a contributing writer/editor and enjoys the
challenge of bringing words to life. Her writing skills reflect a unique perspective informed by
her life experience and work in the mental health field. She possesses a comprehensive
understanding of the lived experiences affecting seniors and their families in today's world.
Gillman's experience as a nonfiction writer/editor and researcher includes several years in
publishing. She has written book reviews for an international nonprofit's online bookstore, as
well as white papers, blog posts and web-based content for executive clients in other settings.
Always up for new challenges, Gillman is currently facilitating a memoir writing group for an
independent living community. She also facilitates a cancer support group and maintains a
private practice working with the aging challenges of seniors and their loved ones and
caregivers.
When Linda Gillman is not writing or working in her private practice or other business interests,
she enjoys, reading, gardening and an active lifestyle in northern California. She is the proud
mother of an adult son and adult daughter and grandmother to four grandsons and lives in the
Sacramento area with her big orange cat, Lucy.
