(full color version) Emergency! Knowing where to find what information in an emergency is of immense importance. There is no time to waste when a life is at stake, and having tools to understand the dynamics of holistic emergency care and trauma recovery is key to keeping such situations as stress free as possible for all involved; humans and animals alike.
It was with this intention in mind that I created the outline for Holistic Emergency Care and Trauma Recovery for Animals. The backbone of this book as based upon the Standard First Aid guidelines such as those taught by the American Red Cross and other emergency care companies. Holistic Modalities were then used to expand the basic Standard 1st Aid tools to provide rescue and trauma recovery personnel and animal guardians with a greater tool kit from which to assist in the immediate moments of an emergency and also for long term care.
The book is broken into four primary sections.
Section I - Holistic Emergency Care assists the reader in gaining a broad awareness of holistic living and healing philosophy. Many of these chapters have been written through direct experiences of the author and her animal companions or clients. The initial chapter addresses the true meaning of "holistic" in emergency care and trauma recovery.
Other chapters in this section bring a variety of insights on how to serve animals in emergencies, trauma recovery, and day to day care that serves as prevention. Animal communication and understanding the roles of animals in our lives is also touched upon.
Section II - Holistic Healing Modalities provides overview information on the various modalities utilized in the step by step directions of Section III and also for Trauma Recovery as discussed in Section IV.
This section is provided to allow the reader background education materials for review and comprehension during calm times. So that the knowledge is more readily in mind during times of stress. Modalities included are: homeopathy, herbology, flower essences, energy healing and divine assistance
Divine Assistance and Energy Healing are touched upon to provide readers with tools to use when an emergency strikes and it is just you, the animal(s), and the Divine (God). Even those who are 1st responders by trade can find themselves without tools in the time of crisis. Understanding that the Divine can utilize you as a tool of energy to assist in healing in miraculous ways can be quite empowering.
Section III -First Responder Instructions is the section to have in hand when an emergency occurs, or to have in mind through practice and running mental scenarios, if you do not have the book. It is the longest section of the book, breaking down types of emergencies, their symptoms and providing an array of ways to assist the animal(s) during the crisis.
Section IV - Trauma RecoveryThis section discusses the process of healing; emotionally, mentally and physically once the emergency or other trauma is well in hand. Suggestions for recovery focus on all bodies, even if the trauma was primarily focused on one body, ie. the physical form verse emotional trauma.
As facilitators of healing we are aiding in the recovery or graceful transition of those we assist by providing tools that the inner healer of the animal(s) requires to bring his/her whole body back into balance: physical, mental and emotional enough to stay or to leave the body. The choice ultimately being that of the animal's Soul/Spirit.
Section IV also contains case studies of the author's personal experiences with a few animals in her care. These are provided to give a greater overview understanding of how to apply the book's whole teachings in real life situations.
About the Author: Lifelong passions compelled Kathryn Shanti Ariel to help pioneer a new movement in health care: the use of Holistic Healing modalities for Emergency Care and Trauma Recovery, in both humans and animals. Her greatest inspiration has come from communing with Nature in all its forms.
