About the Book

The latest poetry collection from author and sculptor Guinotte Wise, full of joy and sadness and wry, side-eyed affection for our lost world.
The title is about a colt my wife, Freddie, got me some thirty years ago. He passed away as this book was being finished. His name is Harley and we loved him. The next to the last poem is about the day he died. Then a week later, a very dear friend died, too young, and the book is dedicated to him. Tim read many of the poems in this collection and he liked them--I know this, because he always told me the truth. He knew Harley and Freddie for years, acquired some companions for the Ghost Colt when his running mates went on to their own rewards. Tim is now a true legend. I'd say rest in peace, but he may have other ideas on his final exploration.
About the Author: Guinotte Wise has been a creative director in advertising most of his working life. In his youth he put forth effort as a bullrider, ironworker, laborer, welder, funeral home pickup person, busboy, warehouse worker, bartender, truckdriver, postal worker, ice house worker, horse groom, paving field engineer. A staid museum director called him raffish, which he enthusiastically embraced. Of course, he took up fiction and poetry. A Pushcart nominee, his fiction, essays or poetry have appeared in over eighty literary reviews including Rattle, Shotgun Honey, Atticus, and Exterminating Angel Press. His first book, Night Train, Cold Beer, won the H. Palmer Hall Award and enough money to fix the soffits. Wise is also a sculptor, his medium, welded steel. He and his wife live on a farm in Resume Speed, Kansas. Educated at Westminster College, University of Arkansas, Kansas City Art Institute. Tweet him @noirbut. Some work is at www.wisesculpture.com
