Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,0, FernUniversität Hagen (Neuere deutsche Literatur- und Medienwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Grandhotels präsentierten sich seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts im Inneren mit Luxus und moderner Technik und nach außen über prunkvolle Fassaden, in Anzeigen, auf Postkarten und Kofferanhängern. Hotels sind zugleich konservierende Orte, in die sich "bewährte" Regeln und Wertvorstellungen eingeschrieben haben, als auch Labore, in denen neue Spielarten erprobt werden, die an bestehenden Ordnungen rütteln und diese verändern können. Vicky Baum und Joseph Roth machen Grandhotels zum zentralen Ort ihrer Romane "Menschen im Hotel" und "Hotel Savoy" und erzählen von fiktiven Begegnungen 1928 in Berlin beziehungsweise 1919/20 in Lodz. Ich betrachte diese Hotels im Licht der Akteur-Netzwerk-Theorie als ein Netzwerk, das sich aus menschlichen und nicht-menschlichen Akteuren zusammenfügt und in dem versucht wird, eingeschriebene Regeln und Erwartungen aufrecht zu erhalten. Hotels sind halböffentliche Orte. Vordergründig scheint die Tür offen zu stehen und unbegrenzten Zugang zu ermöglichen. Doch ist dies tatsächlich so? Werden alle, die durch sie eintreten, gleichermaßen willkommen geheißen? Bekommt jede*r ein Zimmer und steht allen die gleiche Auswahl an Zimmern zur Verfügung? Ich gehe davon aus, dass das Hotel bestimmte Erwartungen an seine Gäste richtet und versucht, die auszuschließen, die diese nicht erfüllen. Ich gehe den Fragen nach, welche Akteure auf den Plan gerufen werden, um den Zugang zu regeln und sich gegen Störungen zu behaupten und inwieweit dies tatsächlich gelingt.
