About the Book

Biscuit, a Rottweiler, was the brother of Kani, a Labrador, who had the same dad but different mothers. Both came from very different environments and upbringings. Both brothers were brought up by their moms. Their dad was not active in their lives. Biscuit had always looked out for himself. He dropped out of school early thinking that he could make things better for he and his mom; but he soon realized that it was a mistake. He felt that he had to always fight to protect himself, to eat, to have a safe place to sleep, and do what he thought necessary to survive the streets he lived on. He seemed to always be angry and bitter when he thought about the life he was given. He blamed much of his bad luck and problems on his dad who was not around. He also blamed others, especially one canine who had reached out to help him. He never knew that the one who had shown him love, kindness, and compassion, was the very one who he would hurt the most. Biscuit saw himself as just existing through life, one without purpose. He had no dreams of ever getting off the streets called 'survival'. He had no imagination or clue that his life would turnaround for the better. One day after Biscuit received a phone call, he moved from his home in Canine Heights, but with him he carried baggage of anger, hurt, suffering, pain, and tears in his heart. This heavy suitcase carried many scares that made his journey seem much longer than what it really was. He never would have imagined that as he made his long journey to the suburbs of a new beginning, his life would soon change. It took someone who he had been a stranger to, someone who cared enough, who taught him how to dream and how to live to make a difference. Biscuit learned the reality of 'straight talk' and wisdom. He learned secrets of dealing with hardship, violence, loneliness and unhappiness. And, most importantly, he understood that the happiest are those who give back to others. If you ask him today what contributed to his happiness and success, he would tell you his story "How Fighting Turned My Life Around."
