About the Book

The subconscious is the problem solving attribute of the human body. We all use it every day, but most don't realize it as we use it without conscious effort. Being able to direct one's subconscious and obtain the power to 'see' what others cannot, to visualize solutions where others have none, and to envision strategic ways forward where none appear to exist definitely provides one with a significant advantage in most, if not all, situations. However, developing a usable understanding of the function, enormous capability, and incredible power the subconscious can bring to one's thought process is indeed a substantial challenge. This capability is not taught in our schools and I believe it should be. This is based on my lifelong effort of training and utilizing my subconscious, the incredible results, and my efforts to help others develop theirs. In this book I describe how I did it. I begin the description at the point I graduated from high school and entered the workforce. The story continues to the point at which solving unsolvable problems became my career. It contains descriptions of some of them and the incredible things the subconscious did to help me solve the problems. In the following I describe five events that led me to that career. First, like many in my era, I did not take high school seriously, but I graduated and entered the workforce. It didn't take long for me to realize I was in trouble. One night it hit me: my education was poor, I had no work skills that would earn a salary sufficient to support the lifestyle I had in mind - wife, family, house, new car - and I was not on a path to get any. It seemed that my life was over just as it was getting started. I spent most of the night going over my options. The next day I joined the Navy and became an electronics technician to start gaining marketable skills.Second, when I completed my enlistment, I decided to entered college to study electrical engineering, an effort I found I was ill prepared for. Under considerable pressure to get top grades, one day I decided to try to train my subconscious to help on exams while I was taking them. The results were startling and I graduated with nearly a 4.0 honor point average. Third, when I went to work, I found that my subconscious was equally effective on work problems. Without being specifically directed, it provided the solution to a potentially project ending problem plaguing one of the company's major government contracts. After my solution was implemented and shown to work, I was told the problem had been considered unsolvable. Fourth, I was then 'invited' to attend MIT to work on a doctorate in engineering. My thesis was to develop technology to solve a problem of direct interest to MIT which some considered to be unsolvable. My subconscious helped me solve it which enabled me to complete my doctoral program in just over 2 years.Fifth, as a result of solving these problems, my career got redirected to that of solving major technical problems others were unable to solve, including problems on, or associated with, Titan II, Apollo, Boeing 747, and NATO, which I did for more than 56 years. It is interesting to note that no one ever told me that the problem I was being assigned was considered unsolvable, but it eventually leaked out. On the other hand, as I worked on a problem I generally noticed that the organization having the problem seemed to be under considerable pressure because of it which generally led to interesting events. Events which gave me the freedom and authority I needed to solve the problem. For example, in some cases organizations authorized me to break their rules, some directed me to, some broke them for me, others actually rewrote their long standing directives, and still others sent out directives to their people requiring them to cooperate with my efforts. The urgency generally became clear as the solution to the problem began to emerge.
