About the Author: Writer, John C Lipes lives in Hollywood, California where he writes, designs, and promotes the arts. Born 22 February 1966 in Washington DC, he has lived in four countries and has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) since 1996, when he was trained as an English Instructor by Berlitz Language Schools in Nurnberg, Germany. After teaching for several language schools and traveling throughout Europe, John became a German > English Translator/Interpreter, developed a methodology for teaching ESL, and opened Speak Easy Language Services in Grevenbroich, Germany after earning his Master's Degree in Marketing in 2003. Having spent 14 years abroad as a successful entrepreneur in England, Holland, and Germany, John moved to California in 2005 and started testing his methodology at the University of California-San Diego (UCSD), Human International Academy (HIA), the International Academy of English, and Southern States University (SSU), where he was both Head Instructor for the Intensive English Program in Fashion Valley as well as Marketing Director. Mr Lipes has studied English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Japanese, and ASL (Sign Language), whereby he noticed that all people express themselves on three levels. He says, "I have taught students from every corner of the globe and noticed that you can be something, you can have something, and you can do something; there is nothing else!" This realization led him to chart the English grammatical forms under the aspects of being, having, and doing; and thus, the Be/Have/(Do) Grammar Matrix was born. Mr Lipes was California Guild of Poetry's Golden Poet of the Year in 1986 and has been writing ever since. His poetry can be heard on audio CD, Nature's Echoes, 2000, he is listed multiple times in Marquis, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World for poetry and environmentalism and is a Living Legends Award recipient from the Cambridge Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England. John can be seen at the beach; hanging out at the cafés in his shorts, flip-flops, and fisherman's cap and still drives his 1990 Honda Accord that his mom gave him.
