About the Book

Your whole life can change in the blink of an eye. Tawnya's life did when she was sitting at a red light. In an instant, she was aware of how deeply unhappy she was and simultaneously baffled as to how or what she needed to change. Thus began a journey into the world of self-help with the thousands of tools available for healing everything imaginable.

The Humans Are Winning recounts elements of Tawnya's traumatic childhood and tumultuous early adulthood that led to her journey of self-discovery and healing that began at that red light. The book's purpose is to illuminate a rich and diverse world of self-help that is available to all who are suffering. It's filled with lessons learned and guidance for others who have experienced life-changing trauma. This is a book that's emotionally raw yet truly inspiring-an authentic overcoming-the-odds story.Excerpt from the introductionWho am I? I'm a healer-of myself and others. I've been a seeker all my life. Sadly, it was the dark and violent nature of my family that initially sparked what would become a lifelong curiosity. I remember asking myself at an early age, "Who are these people? Shouldn't I be somewhere else?"

I nearly lost my life the first time I shared my story. This time I'm sharing it for those who feel like they don't belong, to anyone or anything. I felt that way for the first half of my life, but I'm here to show you that you don't need to continue feeling lost and alone.

I'm happier now than I've ever been. I've found deep, true, and lasting love with my husband. I've found compassion for the echoes of my past that come up now and again. I've walked back through the hardest and most painful parts of my life to find peace and equilibrium in my present. I've found forgiveness for myself and my family for all the horrors we experienced together. Most importantly, I've found love and respect for myself.About the authorTawnya Williams is an author, speaker, and educator who helps individuals understand and heal childhood and adult trauma. LOVE the snow globe analogy. Something I certainly felt after losing my career and my parents. All of your analogies were great. The laundry chute rang true. I think that even though the stories you shared are difficult and (hopefully) not the norm for many people, the lessons are still there and very relatable to most everyone in some way. So I would think your experiences in climbing out of that trauma can be very helpful to many people!" - A.W.
