About the Book

A new one on Hunting Court. An old man moved into a house on Hunting Court in the 1950's. He was a busy man who worked for a local newspaper. After he retired he became lazy and less social. He didn't take care of the house. He wouldn't shovel the snow off the porches in the winter or mow the lawn in the summers. A policeman actually had to go to his house and tell him to mow his lawn. Matthew Morgan is a young man right out of college who wants to pursue a career in business management but he has a terrible time finding a job. After seeing an ad for a real estate agent who has management experience he applies for the job and gets it. He has worked for the real estate company called Montgomery Real Estate for about a year and a half when he is assigned to work on a house on Hunting Court. The owner of Montgomery Real Estate calls Matthew early one morning in November and informs him a new one for himself. Matthew leaves the warmth of his bed to get ready for the day. A busy day lies ahead of him as usual. Matthew thinks of a time a year ago when he worked on a house with another young man named Mark. Mark and Matt had become friends. Matthew is a hard worker and takes his work, which is his life, very seriously. When he worked with Mark it had snowed badly and it was difficult, but not impossible, to get much work done. Mark opted to be lazy and not go into work on the days when the snow was very bad. But Matthew didn't get lazy. Matthew worked as much as he could and got as much done as he was able to get done in the snow while relying on his own small car to travel in. Mark's indifference caused him to be fired. The house on Hunting Court is to be worked on alone by Matthew who works for Montgomery Real Estate. But the real estate agent that acquired the house after the owner died pulled a scam and sold the house to two different companies, one being Montgomery Real Estate. So two companies rightfully own the property. After Matthew arrives at the house and sets up his equipment a woman slightly older than him discovers him cleaning a part of the fireplace in the back yard. They soon discover that the real estate agent pulled a scam and sold the house to Matthew's and the woman's companies. The owners of the two companies are called and Matthew's boss decides it will best if Matt and the woman work together on the house. Matthew and the woman become close throughout their day together and the woman opens up to Matthew about a terrible secret. Matthew is hesitant to be loving toward her because he remembers an ex girlfriend who was unpleasant to be with. But the two fall in love quickly and decide to stay at the house after they completed their day's work. From the moment Matthew entered the house and saw the powder room at the end of the foyer that seemed to be occupied by someone either living or dead, the house has given off a sense of dread. The woman insists she and Matthew stay at the house with no electricity after it has gotten dark. The house eventually brings tragedy to the two of them who have just found love. The old man who died in the house fell down the stairwell and the house was determined to break apart Matthew and the beautiful Kara. But Matthew finds comfort after the tragedy occurs. A single imagination of what will happen between him and Kara can give hope to anyone.
