"They didn't invite me ... I'm not good enough ... They didn't want me with them ... Did they forget about me?"
Children often have trouble falling asleep. Carnuli, who lives on the planet Tezra, felt sad because their friends all went to the park. Thoughts were racing as they do with many children and sadness took over. Children on this planet glow in the colour they are feeling and the aura of blue enveloped Carnuli.
Trine, an adult figure, offers to teach Carnuli something that helps her keep her calm mind when she is having sad thoughts. Together, they take deep breaths, "One Tezranian, Two Tezranian, Three Tezranian" while Carnuli's mind calms. Deep breathing calms our nerves and helps to reduce stress and anxiety. We can teach our children to do this!
"I Can Calm My Mind", is one of five books in the Power of Thought Series. Each book begins with a conflict that every child can relate to and teaches an evidence-based strategy that adults can model for everyday use. Children will learn, in a fun way, how to problem-solve and find positive solutions to everyday situations.
The Power of Thought children's book series has been developed alongside clinicians, educators and parents to use as a proactive resource in teaching children emotional literacy.
Read this imaginary, fun, practical book to your child, grandchild, or students. Help them build self-awareness, motivation, empathy, social and self-regulation skills.

"I enjoyed reading I Can Calm My Mind. I loved the characters because I love crystals and the artwork was bright and colourful. When I feel sad and can't fall asleep, I think happy thoughts and take deep breaths. This can make me feel calm and my sad thoughts go away so I can sleep. I hope the series goes on!" 9-year-old Christopher D.
