Pensavo che non era molto facile giungere a buon porto con quel tempo. Avevo voglia di scaldarmi, fremevo al pensiero che quanto prima avrei potuto dare sfogo alla mia bile contro i rossi che per poco l'altra sera non ci stendevano per calle del carbone .Vi era il sandalo che ci attendeva. Giggi il gondoliere fischiava, per avvertirci che era là ad aspettare da un bel pezzo. Quando ci fummo messi a sedere e ci staccammo dall'imbarcadero, Giggi domandò chi era che aveva il comando della spedizione, e quando seppe che ero io: "Siete voi, signor Roberto..... ho sentito che ci spiano, sarebbe meglio cambiare itinerario e giungere a Malamocco, anzichè da Canal Grande..." Con le parole di uno di questi Arditi, si apre il breve studio di Giacinto Reale, sui Cavalieri della Morte, la prima ed egemone organizzazione fascista in Venezia. L' unico studio finora dedicato a questa pagina di storia. Organizzazione più dannunziana che mussoliniana in senso stretto, di impossibile inquadramento nel regime, " benedetta" anche da Italo Balbo e diretta dall' avvocato Marsich, legionario fiumano il cui cuore batteva nelle terre irredente dell' Adriatico, I Cavalieri della Morte, rafforzati dalla audace guida del pordenonese Gino Covre, placarono in modo irreversibile i moti anti-nazionali dei social comunisti, radendo di fatto al suolo ogni loro struttura e sede. Cavaliere della Morte anche il nonno del disegnatore veneziano Hugo Pratt, che lo ha ricordato nella sua opera " Corte sconta detta arcana", citandone una sua poesia. Ingombranti anche per il nascente regime fascista, oltre che per le forze di polizia che ne decretarono lo scioglimento a causa della loro irruenza, peculiarietà e indipendenza. Una pagina di storia vibrante come una bomba a mano. Appunto......
