About the Book

Take a journey from Mother's Day to Mother's Day...If you like to garden, you probably agree that mothering must be a bit like cultivating flowers. A lot of what you get out is a result of the care you put in, and you likely can accredit much of who you are today to your mom's influence. Inspired by the author's reflection on her own mother's nurturing, each essay provides a reflection to start each month along with a snapshot of traditional flowers and their meaning. With spaces for your own notes and reflections and entries for your daily appointment, this little book beautifully keeps your days-- while bringing to mind many of your own special memories! Enjoy the journey!
About the Author: Tamara E. Brown loves seeing things grow-whether a medical device, chemical plant build, future careers for children in STEM, or (of course) things in the garden! Named a White House Champion of Change in 2011 and one of Fortune Magazine's Heroes of the 500, her work experiences have informed her personal passion: creating opportunities so that others can realize the potential in their lives. In the last fourteen years the Tech Savvy program she founded has introduced thousands of middle school girls across the country and the adults in their lives to the multiple possibilities in science. Tamara earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, double-majoring in biomedical engineering and chemical engineering, a Master's degree in chemical engineering from the University at Buffalo, and an MBA from Canisius College. A lifelong learner, she recently completed a Harvard Business School program in sustainable business strategy. Her career has spanned the fields of medical device development, technology project management, sustainable development and community engagement. She calls Mississippi home and enjoys living and working in Western Connecticut, where she also writes and gardens, but neither frequently enough! Always careful to emphasize that what you do doesn't completely define who you are, she is most importantly: a child of God, friend, niece, cousin, sister, and honorary lifelong Western New Yorker. She is Godmother to undeniably the most astute young lady in the universe-- and, of course, she is a daughter!
