Seit dem 16. Jahrhundert heißt es: Wer in der Gesellschaft teilhaben möchte, braucht (Lohn-) Arbeit. Jahrhunderte später hat sich daran nichts geändert, nur ist die Abfolge von Zeiten des Schaffens mittlerweile zu einem komplizierten Gebilde geworden: die Grenzen zwischen Privat- und Berufsleben verschwimmen. Die Arbeitswelt ändert sich rasant und stellt vielfältige Bedingungen an den Leistungsmenschen des 21. Jahrhunderts. Damit ändert sich auch die Sicht auf Arbeit. Hier kommt die Sprache immer wieder auf eine Gruppe: die sogenannte Generation Y. Als Karriereverweigerer werden sie in den Medien oft beschrieben. Doch entspricht dies den Tatsachen? Worum geht es ihnen, warum streben einige nach anderen Formen von Arbeit? Wir sind oder wir sind eben nicht, was wir arbeiten! Hauptsache anders. Dieses Buch möchte Inspiration liefern, Mut aufzeigen - und dazu anregen, tradierte Strukturen zu überdenken. Ich möchte lieber nicht.
About the Author: Freigeist, Medienjunkie und Design Thinkerin: Jo Graff liebt kreative Ideen und internationale Herausforderungen. Seit vielen Jahren arbeitet sie als Journalistin und verbrachte die letzten Jahre damit, den Globus zu erkunden. So zog es sie nach Skandinavien zum Studieren, für Jobs und Freiwilligenarbeit nach New York, Indien und Vietnam. Neben ihrem Bachelorstudium der Kommunikationswissenschaft & Komparatistik sowie der Europäischen Medienwissenschaft im Master begleitete Jo Medienprojekte in Europa und Afrika. Selbst der sogenannten Generation Y angehörend und inspiriert von ihrem Zusatzstudium an der HPI School of Design Thinking, setzte sie sich im Rahmen ihres Abschlussprojektes am Institut für Künste und Medien der Universität Potsdam sowie am Fachbereich Design der Fachhochschule mit der Arbeitsphilosophie dieser viel diskutierten Generation auseinander. Die Wahlberlinerin regt in ihrem Projekt "I would prefer not to." dazu an, bestehende Arbeitsmodelle zu hinterfragen. Jo ist Gründungsmitglied der Innovationsagentur "Kill Your Darling". In einem vierköpfigen internationalen Team arbeitet sie als Innovationscoach daran, unsere Welt nachhaltiger zu gestalten.
