About the Book

The blogs (essays) in this collection are intended to provoke thought and dialogue. They first appeared on www.roelfwoldring.wordpress.com. These reflections on experience address topics such as: - the real requirements for lasting organizational change, - managing and measuring, or how to improve managing through realistic measuring, - selecting senior organizational leaders, - the fit between a business's nature and the abilities of its CEO, - the marginalization of older workers in the workplace. Roelf's perspective on social issues reflects his business experience and his post graduate training as a workplace psychologist. When he focuses on social issue, he addresses topics such as: - the link between executive compensation and financial disaster, - the current problems with pensions, - the way in which technology has been systematically destroying the jobs people depend on for their families' income, - myths about talent and who it really belongs to in our society, - the real lessons people learn from history.
About the Author: Roelf Woldring first got involved with computers when his boss handed him an IBM 1401 Autocoder language manual and asked "Do you think you can learn to program this computer?". Roelf has been a programmer, a project manager, a CIO, a CEO and a business strategist. Early in his career, he realized that he was really managing people and not computers. He chose to do his graduate studies in work place psychology. Tying what he had learned about people with what he knew about technology, Roelf became an organizational change consultant and organizational turnaround expert. He now runs a performance based talent management organization, WeCRUT3. (See wecrut3.com to find out more.) Roelf has been writing since the first day he started work at 16. Today, he is more likely to be typing words than computer code. An early e-learning champion, Roelf is now creating web based voice overs as often as he is generating text. (See www.wciltd.com)
