About the Book

In the 21st century we have to make fine tuning of present-day agriculture like climate resilient agriculture, soil health management, nutrient management, regenerative agriculture etc. Oilseed crops are the second most important crop after cereals with respect to agricultural economy in the world. It is one of the most dynamic sectors in the world agricultural economy. Different types of crops producing vegetable oil are cultivated in the world as well as in India. Those crops include mustard, groundnut, soybean, sunflower, coconut, sesame, linseed, palm, niger etc. We attain self-sufficiency in oil seed production through yellow revolution, but this situation does not sustain for many days due to increasing consumption of oils as the population is increasing, on the other hand oil seeds production is not increasing at the same rate with demand. Consequently, in one side India is the third largest oil seed producing country in the world, on the other hand India is one of the largest importers of vegetable oil. These demand and supply gap in edible oil has compelled us to import huge vegetable oil.

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) was first introduced in Brazil and Peru in the year 950 B.C. and from there it was spreaded to Jamaica, Cuba etc. The importance of oil in dietary consumption has increased the demand for oil seed crops like groundnut. Variety of groundnut plays important role for production of seed. Different types of groundnut varieties are recommended for different agro climatic zone.TG 37A is characterized as a semi dwarf compact pod setting high yielding variety having more number of three seeded pod. It possesses 15 days seed dormancy which makes it suitable for harvesting without any germination of seed during the time when there is any rain at the time of harvesting.

Groundnuts, being a legume, have specific phosphorus requirements for optimal growth and nitrogen fixation. Efficient phosphorus management can enhance root development, flowering, and pod formation in groundnut varieties, leading to improved yields and better quality produce. Residual effects of phosphorus applied to groundnuts are critical for subsequent crops like baby corn. Phosphorus is relatively immobile in soil and can remain available for following crops, potentially reducing the need for additional fertilization. This residual phosphorus can influence baby corn growth, nutrient uptake, and overall productivity. Studying these effects can provide insights into sustainable agricultural practices, optimizing fertilizer use, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impacts.
