... A timeless, enlightening romantic adventure, a flight from grief in search of happiness.Magician, an enigmatic man of wisdom, tells Grant that Michael, a grandson will be born to his daughter. Michael will become a famous artist, like Nicholas Roerich. In their past lives Michael and Jessica's tragic love made them a legend.... In Search of Lost Love revolves around Michael and Jessica, who are deeply in love but are separated for many years. Before he dies, Grant tells 14-year-old Michael about Michael's and Jessica's mysterious connection to their past. And so it all happens, as foretold by the Magician many years ago. Michael and Jessica venture on their lives' incredible journey of great love, suffering, and joy.Michael's experience of the astral world; the early deaths of the people he loves; and his bizarre art, often strangely resembling illustrations in The Tibetan Book of the Dead, a gift sent to him by the Magician; all these are intimately connected. As if kind destiny is giving another chance to their fated love, Jessica appears in Michael's life, even as Grant promised many years ago. But destiny is neither kind nor ruthless; it dispassionately runs its course. Swimming in love, Michael and Jessica see nothing outside one another; they don't heed ominous signs of approaching disaster. Finally, Michael meets the Magician. Jessica's life is coming to an end! The Magician tells Michael that in her past life, Jessica made a fatal mistake. Nevertheless, her present life may be spared if Michael will never see her again. But Michael and Jessica cannot resist being together. Soon she dies. Michael follows his love into a gruesome world of the dead - the Bardo, an illusory world, where dead men's fears are realized. Greatly enhanced by feeling of guilt, Michael's suffering in Bardo is unbearable. He is brought to judgment, where the Lord of Death finds him guilty of suicide. There are only a few parallels in human history to what Michael did, the Magician tells him, and hints about another opportunity to find Jessica. When 18 million years ago humanity became conscious, a secret pathway to the astral world was created by the Moon Gods. They called it the Gates. On a bright Sunday morning, a schooner unmoors from the dock. Michael and the Russian, Michael's godfather, sail to Brazil, a one-way journey. In a series of strange events, Michael, the Russian, and their guide Max, reach the Sea of Maje, which meets them with a storm. Badly injured, the Russian is unable to walk, but this is only the beginning of their ordeal. The boat is surrounded by crocodiles. In a terrific battle, the three are able to ward off the crocodile attacks, The Russian orders Michael and Max to wire the boat with dynamite sticks and abandon it. He blows up the schooner, together with the crocodile leader and himself, ending a long mysterious chase.Michael crosses the threshold of the Gates and discovers that, freed from limitations of the physical body, his mind's creative power seems infinite in the astral realm. At last Michael finds Jessica. As a gift from their newly found happiness, they discover that they can make miracles happen. Suddenly a surge of unknown energy springs from within, uniting their bodies in a flash that feels sexually charged. It is dazzling, delightful, and overwhelming. The charge is much stronger, and incomparably more satisfying, than anything they had experienced on Earth. In the astral realm they visit the Russian, and fight the pirates. They find Mark, son of the Russian, who solves some of his father's earthly puzzles. They see their friends: Arthur, a knight of the flaming heart of Arthur, the King, and Benedict, an ultimate designer, and creator of Human Condition, a grand astral show exposing causes of human miseries. They unravel many mysteries, and the mystery of their next rebirth.
