In The Shadows Of Promise is an anthology of poetry based on my dreams..
I have made love in my dreams, explored new lands, spoken foreign languages and even experienced life through the eyes of other beings. I have been killed in battle, though I have no real life military experience. It is as if in some dreams I merge into the dreams or lives of others. Some incredibly happy, some terribly sad, some horrific Some dreams leave me with a sense of purity and innocence.
Winter's Dawn
I have not forgotten you, my windy friend
As you steal in and surround my world
And still the night with your shy breath
Causing fall of leaves to soften my walk ahead.
I did wait for now
To see how you sweep the land of summer's waste
Giving flight to the flying
And death to the dying.
I did wait for your cool embrace
Of my rosy cheeks and crystal tears
To remind me of life's precious tides
In the sea of my existence.
What polite warning you do give
Of cold that's sure to come upon me
So I might fetch wood to warm my home
And blanket my bed with mother's quilt.
What great caring you do give
To share the past year's hopes
And love of friends and family both
All with dreams far and new.
I have not forgotten you, my windy friend
As the great clouds dance to your songs of time
To clear the morn for the sun to smile
And melt the frost in fields of crisp blades.
